The weblog you just came from is a personal project, but it’s also meant as a marker for people to find me / find out about me via the Web.

What’s your business problem? How can I help?

I’ve worked with clients in a variety of fields, not just finance. I’ve found myself helping political consultants, advertisers, online retailers, lawyers, investors (private markets), traders, hedgies, brick-and-mortar distributors, and “purely online” internet start-ups—across a wide range of industries.

My consulting work has mostly involved things of this nature:

  • recommendation engine design
  • custom risk metrics
  • what I would call “Design me a functional that does X”.
  • analysis/development of trading strategies / signals / algorithms
  • statistical analysis of past trades
  • “What’s the underlying (logical) structure of my situation?” What I would call “helping clients translate from practical knowledge into programmable, mathematical, logical language”.
  • group decision-making problems
  • voting / aggregation problems
  • analysing or aggregating customer preference data

Also some “regular statistics” stuff such as:

  • data exploration
  • which machine learning technique should I use?
  • modelling
  • data visualisation
  • I have this idea, do you think it’s going to work?

That said, I’m not a total egghead. After working in private equity & venture capital for a few years, I’ve looked at a lot of companies. And as mentioned above, I’ve worked on a wide range of business problems for clients. I also ran a small business (not a website or iPhone app, an actual company with actual employees) for a few years, so I have Actually Been There™—or at least a crude facsimile. Sometimes people want to ask me:

  • strategic / long-view questions
  • hey can I get your opinion on something
  • will you look at my deck
  • what do you think of this user interface
  • etc.

I don’t want to post my name, email, or phone number so please get at me via one of the following methods:

  • εmail húмility døt conşultîng äт gee mail.com (just use the regular English characters, the Unicode is for spammers)
  • isomorphismes.tumblr.com/ask — You must have a tumblr account, and my reply will come through tumblr.
  • tweet @isomorphisms, and follow @isomorphisms so I can direct-message you my telephone number in reply.
  • leave a disqus comment below with your contact details (email; phone & a good time to call; lat/long of your hardiest carrier pigeon)

How can I help you?
